On Saturday, January 14, we kicked off the second year of the Youth Leadership Program (formerly Light City Teen Scholars) in Baltimore. The program builds on all the great work done during the first year of the program while increasing emotional support tools, engagement time, family & mentor engagement, and the total number of students.

This year’s class will include 22 students – nine returning from the first year of the program, plus 13 new scholars. The 2017 program will run through the end of July, with a third year of programming beginning in October to align with the school year calendar.

This weekend, the kickoff event provided an opportunity for the students and their families to meet the staff, each other, and get all the paperwork for the program completed. We are so excited about and for this group of exceptional young people. If you or anyone you know is interested in mentoring one of the students, please contact Renana Fox (renana.y.fox@kp.org).
