Spread the Word: The Youth Leadership Program Is Growing in Baltimore

0

In February of 2016, Kaiser Permanente launched Light City Teen Scholars, a youth leadership program in concert with Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts. Kaiser Permanente has committed to growing the program into a four year, place-based leadership program focusing on college and career readiness. The first class of twelve Baltimore high schoolers have been invited to continue as Kaiser Permanente Youth Leaders, and will be peer mentors for the incoming students.

We need your help to make this program a success. If you know a student currently attending Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy, Francis M. Wood High School, Green Street Academy, or Carver Vocational High School, make sure they know about the program and encourage them to apply!  We are also looking for adult mentors, and for Baltimore-area businesses interested in hosting internships or offering career-focused fieldtrips. The current class has enjoyed touring businesses throughout the city to see how they work behind the scenes.

You can find more detailed information and a student application, here. If you have any questions, please contact Renana Fox (renana.y.fox@kp.org).
