Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States and Halcyon brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders to spur health care innovation at the 2025 Innovation Spotlight on March 25th at Kaiser Permanente’s Center for Total Health in Washington, D.C. The event marked the culmination of the 2025 Halcyon Health Fellowship, an eight-week program that supports early-stage health care ventures with mentorship, resources, and funding.
“Partnering with Halcyon is a critical step in our commitment to revolutionizing health care. By empowering visionary entrepreneurs with our expertise and resources, we are not only driving the future of medical innovation but also ensuring that transformative solutions reach those who need them most,” said Israel Rocha, Jr., regional president, Kaiser Permanente, Mid-Atlantic States. “Together, we will reshape patient care, expand access, and create a more equitable health care system for all.”
As a key partner in the fellowship, Kaiser Permanente worked closely with Halcyon to equip fellows with industry expertise, strategic guidance, and hands-on mentorship. Throughout the program, Kaiser Permanente executives provided insights on critical health care topics, including maternal health, culturally competent care, and artificial intelligence in medicine.
Advancing Health Care Through Innovation
Kaiser Permanente has long been at the forefront of health care transformation, leveraging technology and data-driven solutions to improve patient outcomes. By investing in early-stage health care innovations, the organization is helping shape the future of medicine while addressing healthcare disparities.
A Collaborative Approach to Health Care Transformation
Throughout the fellowship, Kaiser Permanente executives provided hands-on mentorship, offering critical guidance in areas such as:
- HIPAA compliance, cybersecurity, and patient data protection

- Investment readiness, business strategy, and pitch development
Among the ventures showcased, several with ties to the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region included Oncovana (oncofertility), Canopie (maternal mental health), and HealthLink360 (AI-driven health risk identification). These startups exemplify the fellowship’s focus on community-rooted innovation with the potential for broad impact.
