2018 was another great year for Kaiser Permanente at the region’s two largest health expos, thanks to our great volunteers and staff! In total, more than 100,000 people from across the region attended the expos over two weekends in March, making these events critical opportunities for Kaiser Permanente to improve the health of our communities by providing health education and expert medicine at no cost.
The knowledgeable and friendly volunteers – KP employees and their family and friends – make these events such tremendous successes. If you volunteered, or you know someone who did, make sure to give yourself or your colleague a pat on the back.
At the one-day Fox45 B’More Healthy Expo, Kaiser Permanente’s 50 amazing volunteers shared yoga, meditation and other mental wellness tools with nearly 30,000 attendees. At the two-day NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo, another 80 volunteers reached more than 75,000 people from across the DMV. Even more amazing, in those three days, our Mobile Health Vehicle team saw nearly 800 people for health screenings and providing 60 flu shots.
Our experts provided information on the benefits of yoga, the importance of sleep, and strategies for mental and physical wellness to Expo audiences through interviews and main stage appearances.
“I’ve never seen so many new yogis at an expo,” said Prisna Anderson, a long-time fitness ambassador for Kaiser Permanente and veteran of many expos. “It’s so great to see people joining in and enjoying themselves!”
