Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States has more national No. 1 ratings and regional No. 1 ratings than any other health plan in the U.S.
Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States rated No. 1 in the nation for Breast Cancer Screening, Controlling High Blood Pressure, Colorectal Cancer Screening and 12 other quality measures, according to the newly released 2017 National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Quality Compass® data.
This is the sixth consecutive year that Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States has ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for Breast Cancer Screening. It’s the third year in a row the organization has ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for Controlling High Blood Pressure and the second year in a row the organization has ranked No.1 on two measures for Comprehensive Diabetes Care (Blood Pressure Control and Eye Exams).

According to the newly released NCQA Quality Compass data for Private/Commercial plans, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States has more national No. 1 ratings and regional No. 1 ratings than any other health plan in the U.S. for measures of Effectiveness of Care.
The data show that Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States achieved the highest rate in the nation for:
- Breast Cancer Screening
- Comprehensive Diabetes Care – Blood Pressure Control (<140/90)
- Comprehensive Diabetes Care – Eye Exams
- Controlling High Blood Pressure
- Colorectal Cancer Screening
- Annual Monitoring for Patients on Persistent Medications – Digoxin
- Adult BMI Assessment
- Immunizations for Adolescents – Combination 2, and
- Seven measures related to Weight Assessment and Counseling for Nutrition and Physical Activity for Children/Adolescents

The annual Quality Compass data assesses the performance of nearly 400 Private/Commercial health plans nationwide spanning all lines of business on critical clinical quality and service standards. The annual Quality Compass database includes scores from the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, or HEDIS, a tool that is used by more than 90 percent of America’s health plans to measure performance on important dimensions of care and service, including medication management, maternal care and respiratory conditions.
