Kaiser Permanente Executive Director Honored in The Washington Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 List

Kaiser Permanente is proud to announce that James Powell, executive director at Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States, has been named one of the Washington Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 honorees for 2026. This prestigious recognition celebrates the region’s most influential young leaders whose vision, dedication, and impact are shaping the future of business and strengthening the greater community.

In his role as executive director, Powell oversees operations across 38 Kaiser Permanente medical centers in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. His leadership includes supporting clinical, operational, and workforce teams in delivering high-quality, coordinated care to approximately 750,000 members in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is also deeply involved in initiatives that expand access to care, elevate patient experience, and advance Kaiser Permanente’s mission of improving the health of the communities it serves.
