Kaiser Permanente, the Mid-Atlantic region’s leading health system, has been honored for its advancement and support of women in leadership. The Executive Alliance named Kaiser Permanente’s Mid-Atlantic region and 42 other regional companies and non-profits to its Honor Roll, which recognizes and celebrates companies and organizations that are creative and supportive in recruitment, development, support, and advancement of women in the workplace and corporate boards.

Recipients of this award must have at least 30% of their executive leadership and 30% of their board of director seats held by women. At Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic, 77% of the executive leadership members and 67% of the board of directors are women. Additionally, nearly 80% of the total workforce are women.

“At Kaiser Permanente we are simply thrilled to be recognized for promoting and supporting women in leadership,” said Angela Beaudry, vice president, Human Resources at Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic. “We recognize that gender equity is a vital element of all thriving workplaces and working to address gender equity is part of our history and the fabric of our organization. We will continue to foster a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion, because we know that our diverse workforce best positions us to support the health and well-being of our membership.”

Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic continues to strengthen initiatives and provide leadership to advance equity in hiring and leadership development for women. For example, the Women Empowered at KP Business Resource Group inspires and empowers Kaiser Permanente employees professionally and personally through community programs and resources, with a focus on the perspective of women. Women Empowered at KP establishes programs and events for skill building and career development and provides ongoing growth and learning opportunities to support mental health and well-being of women in the workplace.

Kaiser Permanente also sponsors external events that support women’s excellence in leadership including the American Heart Association Go Red of Women Program, the Black Girls Vote Gala, the Montgomery County Commission for Women- Women’s Legislative Briefing, and the She Suite Summit.

Research shows that companies that promote women to leadership roles are more innovative and profitable. An analysis from McKinsey found that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams were 25 percent more likely to have above-average profitability than other companies. A study from Innovation: Management, Policy & Practice found that companies with more women were more likely to introduce radical new innovations into the market over a two-year period.

All of the Honor Roll companies and non-profit organizations, including Kaiser Permanente, were celebrated at Executive Alliance’s Honor Roll event, held Thursday, March 23, 2023, at DLA Piper’s Mount Washington offices.  The event featured a panel discussion of best practices by selected representatives of Honor Roll companies and a welcoming reception.
