Kaiser Permanente culminated a month of Veterans Day-focused activities with a special community event at Kaiser Permanente’s Gaithersburg Medical Center. The event engaged both Kaiser Permanente employees and the broader community in meaningful volunteer opportunities to support and honor veterans and service members.
The event, hosted by Kaiser Permanente’s Veterans@KP Business Resource Group, organized a variety of hands-on activities and educational opportunities, such as hands-on CPR training, NARCAN® training, and health and wellness screenings with flu vaccines provided by Kaiser Permanente’s Mobile Health Vehicle.
In the month leading up to the event, Kaiser Permanente employees and physicians throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia regions participated in a series of volunteer activities including crafting lanyards, distributing and collecting coloring pages for children, and writing heartfelt messages of support. These items will be delivered to veterans and service members through Kaiser Permanente’s partner and nonprofit organization, Operation Gratitude.
“Supporting our veterans and military families is a cause that’s close to my heart personally, and serving this vital community is a core part of our work at Kaiser Permanente,” said Fazi Sabi, MD, Board Certified Ob/Gyn, Associate Medical Director at Kaiser Permanente and a veteran herself. “It’s an honor to come together with fellow veterans, Kaiser Permanente colleagues and community partners to give back to this community through both service and education this Veterans Day.”
