At Kaiser Permanente we believe that regardless of age you can always find ways to thrive. That’s why on Saturday, May 6 we celebrated our first annual Thriving After 60 Day. This event brought together approximately 650 Kaiser Permanente members, their families, and friends age 60+ to the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel. In addition, over 50 KPMAS employee volunteers also volunteered their time to make the event a success. During the day attendees discovered new ways to be healthy, fit, and active, both physically and mentally.

Attendees participated in a wide array of educational sessions including valuable workshops led by our expert physicians and clinical staff on topics ranging from changing nutritional needs after 60, to caring for the ones you love, and how to keep your feet, heart, kidneys and vision healthy. Attendees also took part in wellness activities including yoga, meditation, and Qi-Gong that helped them strengthen their bodies and their minds.

“There is no better place to thrive after 60 than Kaiser Permanente,” said Mona Gahunia, DO, associate medical director, primary care strategy for Kaiser Permanente’s Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, and the event’s keynote speaker. “Thriving After 60 Day was about sharing the latest advances in treatment, technology, nutrition, physical exercise, and how to stay healthy and active at any age. I am proud to work for an organization and with a team of professionals who care deeply for our members.”
