Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States (KPMAS) recently purchased the full 60,000 sq.ft. building housing the Ashburn Medical Center. This purchase will allow KPMAS to double the facility’s total footprint and offer even more services to our members. The build-out process will occur in phases over the coming years, with Phase One’s expected completion in 2019.

This expansion is part of KPMAS’ capital planning program, which includes the recently opened Abingdon Medical Center in Harford County, Maryland; a new medical building planned for Alexandria, Virginia; and a new administrative facility in New Carrolton, Maryland.

Once completed the larger Ashburn Center will have increased Primary Care and Behavioral Health offerings. Additionally, new services will include Optometry with an optical shop and Imaging with mammography, bone density testing, and ultrasound.

The expansion is an important part of KPMAS’ efforts to provide the highest quality health care and strengthen its presence in the Northern Virginia service area.
