Kaiser Permanente employees of the Mid-Atlantic States (KPMAS) congratulate the 135 Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group physicians who are recognized in the November 2017 “Top Doctors” edition of the Washingtonian magazine. The Washingtonian Top Doctors list is based on a local survey of physicians, and has achieved a certain cachet in the local community. And we even have two of our physicians featured on the cover: both Dr. Asha Patton-Smith (NOVA Child Psychiatry) and Dr. Ameya Kulkarni (NOVA Interventional Cardiology). They were also featured in spotlights highlighting “What’s Changing In Her Field” and “An Exciting Innovation,” respectively.

Dr. Ameya Kulkarni

KPMAS is proud to have 135 doctors recognized. We would also like to thank every MAPMG physician and staff member for their relentless dedication to providing care to our members. As a result, we are able to boast of countless public recognitions, including that by the Washingtonian magazine.

As we have done in the past, we have placed an ad in the magazine, highlighting the remarkable accomplishments of our physicians.

The Washingtonian magazine sends questionnaires to 12,000 randomly selected area physicians, asking them whom they would trust to provide care for their patients in each of 39 medical specialties (excluding specialties such as anesthesiology and hospital medicine where patients often do not have a choice of doctors). The physicians who responded named thousands of doctors in the Washington metropolitan area. The list of “Top Doctors” is made up of those physicians who received the greatest number of recommendations within their specialties.
