At Kaiser Permanente, we strive to help our diabetic members live healthier, better lives. As part of this commitment, we hosted Diabetes Wellness Day this past Saturday.
Over 1,200 members attended to hear from KP’s diabetes experts, learn strategies for managing their care, and expand their support network. The event included a wide-array of diabetes educational sessions including workshops on diabetes and the heart, diabetes and the brain, carbohydrates counting 101, and managing diabetes through meditation. Additionally, a Health Expo ran all day and included opportunities for members to get flu shots, foot screenings, diabetic retinal screenings, yoga and massage.
Explaining the importance of Diabetes Wellness Day, Dr. Noel said “This event arms our diabetic patients with information and inspiration to control their diabetes. Seeing the number of patients banding together, their excitement to learn and their appreciation for the event was absolutely incredible,” said Dr. Noel.
