Spreading the Word about our 5-Star Medicare Plans

As an organization, Kaiser Permanente has offered Medicare health plans since the program’s inception in 1965. Unlike some of our competitors who have entered and left the market, leaving vulnerable members without coverage, Kaiser Permanente has never left, showing that our commitment to the nation’s aging population is unwavering. While our plans are well-known in most of our service area, now, we want to share that commitment with the Baltimore community, where our brand is not as well recognized. To help generate brand awareness in Baltimore, we recently began airing two television ads about our Medicare plans (60-second and 120-second ads) on WJZ-CBS, WBFF-FOX, EBFF-This TV, WNUV-CW, WUTB-MY TV, and WMAR-ABC. If you live in the Baltimore area, be sure to watch these stations and tell your friends and family about our Medicare plans. Watch the ad here.

Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States Medicare plans have received 5-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for four years in a row. The dedication, hard work, and contributions of our physicians, health care teams, and administrative staff were instrumental to our high star performance. Additionally, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic is one of only two health plans in the country to receive 5 out of 5 ratings from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for both our commercial (private) and Medicare plans.

“As an organization, our goal is to provide the ultimate service level and care experience to all of our members,” said Jerri Steinkraus, Director of Medicare Sales, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic. “It’s a privilege for me to be part of a team who represent the organization in sharing our powerful and compelling story with prospective Medicare members about what distinguishes us from our competitors . . . the fact that we are the providers of quality care and coverage.”

By having mass advertising in the Baltimore market, we hope to make a broad connection with our high-quality care and service story, a story that is echoed by our Medicare team every day. “The Medicare marketing communications team is proud to be promoting a product that serves this special population that deserves the best we have to offer,” said Jill Sacks, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Programs, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic. “All of our doctors accept Medicare patients. Other plans can’t say that.”

For Medicare beneficiaries, the advantages of Kaiser Permanente’s 5-star plan go beyond high-quality care and service—they also include a longer enrollment opportunity. In addition to the upcoming annual enrollment period from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2015, Medicare beneficiaries may switch to our 5-star Kaiser Permanente individual Medicare plan through a CMS Special Enrollment period from Dec. 8, 2015 to Nov. 30, 2016, without having to wait until the next annual enrollment period.
