Kaiser Permanente proudly sponsored the 2024 annual Capital Pride Parade and Festival, a weekend celebration themed “Totally Radical,” to honor the activism and progress of the 1980s and ‘90s.

This year, DC welcomed more than 700,000 attendees including about 200 Kaiser Permanente volunteers, including Kaiser Permanente employees, doctors, volunteers and their family members, to celebrate love, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

On June 8, Kaiser Permanente volunteers were seen and heard marching with the Batalá band alongside the organization’s float during the Capital Pride Parade. On June 9, at the Capital Pride Festival, Kaiser Permanente employees and physicians showed their support by offering complimentary sunscreen and skin cancer prevention tips, handing out pride-themed giveaways, and cheering the crowd on.

“Pride Month is a powerful reminder of our unwavering commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity,” said our Regional President, Israel Rocha, Jr., who also participated in the events.

“We are proud that Kaiser Permanente remains a welcoming, inclusive, and representative space where all LGBTQ+ individuals can trust that they will receive sensitive, individualized, and self-affirming care.”

“Pride Month is also a time to celebrate the importance of allowing everyone to speak their truth and share who they are with the world,” he said. “It underscores the need for compassion, inclusion, equity, and understanding from all – for all.”

Kaiser Permanente is thankful to all of the volunteers, employees and physicians who gave their time to support our community at Capital Pride this year.
