Kaiser Permanente, the region’s largest integrated nonprofit health system, today opens the doors of its new 222,000 square foot Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center. This comprehensive care center expands access to award-winning care in Baltimore County, offering a full range of world-class physicians in more than 30 medical specialties, ranging from cardiology and dermatology to neurology, obstetrics, gynecology, and more. The new medical center will also offer an array of services including 24-hour Advanced Urgent Care with clinical observation units, 24-hour radiology and laboratory, and extended weekday and weekend pharmacy hours.

“We’ve seen significant membership growth in Baltimore County over the last several years and we’re thrilled to be able to expand access to our nation-leading care in this region,” said Ruth Williams-Brinkley, regional president, Kaiser Permanente. “We know that our unique coordinated care model makes health care more convenient for our members and more importantly, helps them live healthier, longer lives.”

The new facility, located at 2391 Greenspring Drive, is the largest Kaiser Permanente medical center in Baltimore County and Kaiser Permanente’s sixth comprehensive care center in the Mid-Atlantic. The state-of-the-art Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center is the third of six new next-generation medical centers opening in the mid-Atlantic region over the next 14 months. The facility has an ambulatory surgery center that’s opening with three operating rooms, 100 exam rooms, oncology services, and 12 procedure rooms for everything from plastic surgery to orthopedic procedures. Kaiser Permanente members will also benefit from a variety of advanced surgical procedures with top-rated surgeons, including total hip replacement, total knee replacement, appendectomy, and thyroidectomy as well as same-day home recovery following several types of surgeries.

Lutherville-Timonium also includes a new exam room layout and the latest technology allows seamless patient handoffs between care departments. Patients can connect with their physicians and care teams in many convenient ways, including through telephone, video appointments and secure messaging. More than 250 staff members and 100 physicians will care for patients at the Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center. The facility is expected to have more than 175,000 visits per year.

“I’m honored to offer our patients in the Baltimore area best-in-class, coordinated care from our outstanding physicians,” said Richard McCarthy, MD, executive medical director for Kaiser Permanente. “Expanding care to this state-of-the art facility enables us to provide an unparalleled level of service across dozens of specialties and perform advanced procedures that improve the lives of our patients.”

The award-winning care provided at the new medical center and the 35 other Kaiser Permanente facilities across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia helps the 800,000 Kaiser Permanente members in the Mid-Atlantic live longer, healthier lives. The integrated care provided by the Kaiser Permanente care team leads to earlier detection and better treatment of heart disease, stroke and breast cancer, resulting in lives saved among its members each year. Kaiser Permanente’s Mid-Atlantic region is the only health plan in the nation to receive a 5-star rating for both its Medicare and commercial plans in the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Health Insurance Plan Ratings for 2021-2022. In addition, 2021 marked the 10th year in a row that the health system’s Mid-Atlantic region received 5 out of 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for its 2021 health plan.

The new Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center offers patients generous access to parking, which includes a 7-story parking garage with more than 20 electric car charging stations and reserved parking for expectant mothers. Conveniently accessible to public transportation, Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center is suitably located near bus transit and the Light Rail station for our members.
