As we continue to grow our membership, it’s important that we expand our facilities to continue providing our members with the best integrated care experience. We are excited to announce that Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States will open a new 40,000-square-foot medical office at The Exchange in the Potomac Yard area of Alexandria, Va.

Located at 3000 Potomac Avenue, the Alexandria Kaiser Permanente Medical Office will be the organization’s first Alexandria office. The newly constructed medical office will offer primary care, imaging, laboratory, pharmacy services, optometry and optical sales.

“We are excited to provide another center that supports our mission of promoting the health of the members and communities we serve,” said Kim Horn, president of Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States. “This new medical facility is an important investment in our growth and a milestone along our path as the Mid-Atlantic States’ leading provider of care and coverage and the model for how health should be delivered across the nation.”

The medical office, which will be located in a 100,000-square-foot building that will also serve as the National Industries for the Blind’s new headquarters, will open in the first quarter of 2019.

Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States is excited to bring its award-winning care to more individuals in Virginia. The organization has been recognized nationally and regionally as one of the top health plans for excellence in patient care outcomes.

Last year, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) revealed Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States to be the only Private plan available through employer-sponsored health coverage in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia — and one of only 13 Private health plans available nationwide — to earn a 5 out of 5 rating in its NCQA Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2016-2017. In addition, Kaiser Permanente has the highest rated Medicare plan in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, and, according to the 2016 NCQA Quality Compass® data, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States rates No. 1 in the nation for breast cancer screening, controlling high blood pressure and five other quality measures.

I am a new Kaiser Permanente employee who works in Gaithersburg, Maryland and live in Potomac Yard, Virginia. My daily commute has been short of a nightmare, as it can easily take up to 1.5 hours to 2 hours to get home on a daily basis.

I am elated to know that I will have my Employer and my Health Care Provider right in my back yard!!! Potomac Yard is a vital location for Members who find the Tysons and Springfield locations too far, to access.

Hopefully, there will be Specialty Clinics located at this facility that will give those of us who love and support Kaiser as employees and patients, an opportunity to live where we reside.

This is wonderful news and I cannot wait to see how we continue to grow and THRIVE!
