Health care is a pervasive part of our lives. We rely on good health care to help us be our healthy best, navigate life milestones such as pregnancy, or simply to help us feel better when we get sick. We’ve all experienced the impact of health care, whether it’s related to picking a health plan, receiving care, or picking up a prescription from the pharmacy.

Kaiser Permanente was named No. 1 on Indeed’s list of The Best Healthcare Companies to Work for in 2018. Indeed developed the rankings based on the employee experience of health care companies with at least 100 reviews between January 2016 and January 2018, looking  at a broad range of industries that impact health care, including biotech, research, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment, in addition to hospitals and health plans.

Employee reviews of Kaiser Permanente determined that they are drawn to work here due to many factors including:

  • Culture
  • Work/life balance
  • Job security and advancement
  • Benefits and compensation
  • Management

A registered nurse currently employed by Kaiser Permanente shared her experience:

“(Kaiser Permanente is an) excellent working environment. Culturally friendly and collaborative working environment. Professional and good communication between staff and patients.”

Health care is currently the largest industry in the United States and is only expected to grow as medical needs across the country increase. In fact, Kaiser Permanente ended 2017 with nearly 12 million members because people value our system of team-based care that ensures members get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

Another employee with Kaiser Permanente’s Human Resources Department wrote:

“Kaiser Permanente was definitely a great company that prioritized cultural diversity not only in their workforce, but their members as well.”

In addition to Indeed’s Best Healthcare Companies list, Kaiser Permanente has been recognized for our commitment to supporting our employees and being a best place to work, including the following distinctions we’ve already received in 2018:

  1. Kaiser is a great place to work, but it can be an awesome place to work if Kaiser Permanente/Union rules, policies and guide lines are followed by the letter. unfortunately their are several people who have experienced in the past and present applying for a job that they felt they were qualified for and had the seniority and still didn’t get the job, because our Kaiser managers are offering positions to inside and outside people who don’t have time and sometimes very little experience and it’s not fair when we have devoted our time as longtime employees and we can’t advance, because we are always picked over, so who will stand up and be the voice for us? I don’t think it’s fair or right to have to file a grievance to get the job that we are suppose to have in the first place and again I love working for Kaiser, but we have lots of room for improvement.
