Every day, our Community Health team works with local nonprofit organizations and municipalities to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve. This work goes beyond increasing access to care; it is also about addressing the non-medical barriers that stand between many people and good health. This can include education, income level, or life experiences.
One of the ways we improve health is by encouraging economic opportunity because we know that when residents of a community are economically secure, they are more likely to have access to care and enjoy better health.
As a part of our commitment to creating vibrant, healthy communities, we are excited to support Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC) in Baltimore for our second year. Through our support for the ICCC initiative, we are helping local businesses to thrive, and thriving local businesses contribute to healthier local neighborhoods.
ICCC is an Initiative for a Competitive Inner-City, a program that helps small businesses in under-resourced communities to develop valuable connections, gain access to capital, and create jobs.
How can you help?
If you are aware of a local small business that could benefit from the ICCC program, please take the time to nominate that business today.
ICCC prefers small businesses that have existed for at least 2 years, are within Baltimore City or that employ members from Baltimore, and have a minimum annual revenue $500,000. Nominations are due by July 1, and each business will be notified of their acceptance two weeks after an application is submitted. The program is offered at no cost to accepted participants.
