Festival Will Light Up the Inner Harbor from March 31 to April 8

As you are aware, Kaiser Permanente is a lead partner for Light City Baltimore, the nation’s first large-scale light, music, and innovation festival that debuted in 2016 with more than 400,000 attendees. Light City Baltimore 2017 will take place March 31 through April 8. The festival will be open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weeknights and until midnight on the weekends.

On our March to a Million Members, the Light City Baltimore sponsorship continues to play an integral role in our efforts to grow our presence and membership in Baltimore. Our partnership in this event will illustrate Kaiser Permanente’s position as a leader in health care not only in the region, but in the nation.

Festival Highlights

The Pool 2Light City Baltimore will begin on Friday, March 31 with its signature Opening Night Light City Lantern Parade. Spanning a 1.5-mile stretch of the Inner Harbor, the festival will feature 23 art exhibits and 50 concerts with 125 illuminated performances. Kaiser Permanente will be the exclusive sponsor of two art exhibits: The Pool and Impulse. Featured in the Kaiser Permanente Thrive Garden to be located in West Shore Park, these exhibits are sure to draw a crowd. To learn more about The Pool and Impulse, click here.

Each night of the festival, which was extended from seven nights in 2016 to nine nights this year, will have a nightly event. As part of the nightly events, Kaiser Permanente will be the exclusive sponsor of the Illuminated Fitness Walk on Wednesday, April 5.

The Light City Baltimore Neighborhood Lights Program will also extend into eight neighborhoods ranging from Little Italy to Mondawmin. Kaiser Permanente is the exclusive sponsor of the art exhibit designed by artist Laure Drogoul that will be featured in the Little Italy neighborhood.

New this year to Light City Baltimore is the Brilliant Baltimore event. This initiative encourages local businesses around the Inner Harbor to light their buildings during the festival. The goal is to help to make downtown Baltimore and the surrounding neighborhoods vibrant for the festival and create an even more specular Light City Baltimore. As a trendsetter for Brilliant Baltimore, the Kaiser Permanente Baltimore Harbor Medical Center will once again light up during the festival to demonstrate our commitment to the Baltimore community.

Labs @LightCity

Light City Baltimore is also designed to shine a light on Baltimore’s abundance of creative, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary talent. A core component of the festival is Labs@LightCity, a series of seven interactive innovation conferences dedicated to powering social change.

Kaiser Permanente has been active in Baltimore for more than 35 years, and we are doing everything we can to help build a healthier city. To further this goal, Kaiser Permanente will sponsor and host HealthLab@LightCity on Monday, April 3. The event will bring together local and national thought leaders to explore emerging technologies and innovative practices that have the potential to affect the quality of life and outcomes for all people, both here and around the world.
