On January 9 & 10, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States Community Benefit department sponsored our participation at NBC4’s Health and Fitness Expo at the Washington Convention Center. This was the fifth year Kaiser Permanente participated in the Expo.
This year, Kaiser Permanente and Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group experts were onsite to provide health screenings and discuss important health topics, such as the importance of getting a healthy night’s sleep.
Throughout the Expo, Kaiser Permanente’s booth offered health screenings to more than 600 guests. We also had a photo booth for kids where they could dress up as doctors and nurses, complete with a stethoscope. In addition, we had an “Exercise Everywhere & Anywhere” station where participants got the chance to learn exercises that can be done at home and at work.
Some of our Human Resources employees were at the Expo to offer professional support to guests interested in health care careers and our summer internship program. More than 100 Kaiser Permanente volunteers came out to support our activities at the Expo on Saturday and Sunday.
Our participation in the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo is just another example of how Kaiser Permanente is fulfilling our mission of not only keeping our members healthy, but also ensuring that we are helping to create healthy communities.
