StoryCorps Features Baltimore Family’s Mental Health Journey

As part of the “Find Your Words” public health awareness campaign, KP has teamed up with national nonprofit storytelling organization, StoryCorps, to motivate people to break the silence around depression. The partnership is helping to share stories all across the nation, and the latest comes from somewhere right in our backyard—Baltimore. In honor of Mental Health Month, follow a young man’s mental health journey and listen as Anthony and his mom talk about the changes he made not just to survive, but to thrive. Watch the video here.

StoryCorps’ mission is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. Since its founding in 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 75,000 interviews from more than 150,000 participants across the country.

Typically, a StoryCorps story is a meaningful conversation, on any topic, between two people who know each other well. For our partnership, we focused specifically on capturing people’s real-life experiences with mental health conditions, which is a topic StoryCorps hadn’t really explored before. If you listen to any of their recordings, it is immediately clear they treat participants with the utmost respect, care, and dignity. Find out more about our partnership with StoryCorps on insideKP.
