2017nbc4doreengroupEach year, thousands of people in the DC area kick off the New Year with a healthy start at NBC4’s Health and Fitness Expo. This year the event continued its purpose by welcoming the community to the Washington Convention Center, January 7- 8. This year’s theme was Changing Minds, aimed at increasing awareness of and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health challenges.

Kaiser Permanente and Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) experts were among the sponsors sharing messages about the importance of living and managing a healthy lifestyle.  Our participation at the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo is just another example of how Kaiser Permanente is fulfilling our mission to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve.

MAPMG was well represented at the Expo. Three of our expert clinicians were featured by NBC4. Dr. Amit Patel from the Northwest DC Medical Center appeared on a short live segment with NBC’s Doreen Gentzler on the Friday evening news. We hosted informal learning sessions on Exercise, Sleep & Mental Health each, which were led by Robert Dill and Dr. Sarita Wahba. Robert Dill also appeared on a Sunday morning main stage panel, Sleepless in the DMV, moderated by Doreen Gentzler. All three clinicians did an excellent job representing Kaiser Permanente.

We thank all of our volunteers and physicians for making this year’s expo a success. We look forward to next year! Check out the photos and links to videos from the event below. Read NBC4’s recap of the event here.
