Lori Indenbaum, a Physician Assistant in Kaiser Permanente’s Community Ambassador Program, recently received the Mary C. Jackson “Good Works, Done Well” Award from the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County. This award, which is presented annually, recognizes a volunteer or professional who has demonstrated commitment and courage in serving underprivileged individuals and families. Like her Ambassador colleagues, Lori is passionate in her role providing quality health care for the low income uninsured and underinsured in our communities.
Lori is just one of over twenty clinicians and physicians participating in our Community Ambassador Program. The program, which began in 2011, places clinicians and physicians in community clinics and hospitals to serve those most in need. The positions are funded by Kaiser Permanente, allowing these community facilities to serve a larger population at no additional cost. This program is part of our organizational commitment to increasing access for vulnerable populations, particularly to primary and preventative care.
The Jackson Award was established in 2003 in memory of Mary Jackson, who died of cancer in 2002. She was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to improving the health and wellbeing of underprivileged youth and families.
